Content Creation also helps to boost your visibility online and helps with SEO (Search Engine Optimization). Another value of content creation is its ability to create leads more cost effectively leading to elevated conversions and sales.

Over the years, I’ve come across multiple guidelines designed to help create the most successful content.


The “3 Pillars of Content Creation” will advise you that your content should either be: educational, inspirational and entertaining.


The “5 C’s of Content Creation” varies depending on the resource, but most commonly include: Relevance, Quality, Consistency, Clarity and Creativity.


Then there’s the “4 E’s of Content Creation,” which states that your content should educate, engage, entertain and empower.


Regardless of which guide you follow, it’s all about integrity. Today’s digital world allows businesses the benefit of connecting with your target audience in a far-reaching capacity. Creating content should reinforce your brand values and build a trusting relationship with consumers.


Skills for Content Creation

Content creators have skills in one or more of these areas: Videography, Photography, Writing and Storytelling, Audio recording and editing, SEO and Content Strategy, Marketing and social media.


Content Development Process

Now that you know what content is, its undisputed value and what it should include – you need to develop a process for creating it in order for it be effective. Start by gathering information…what is your niche or content focus?

Then strategize how you will use that information to be most beneficial for your brand. Where should you publish your content? What form should you publish your content in?

Get to creating and optimizing – keep your guidelines in mind and review your content to make sure it also meets your target audience’s needs.

Then publish! Make sure once you’ve published your content, that you continue to promote it by sharing, utilizing cross-posting platforms, include it in your printed marketing and advertising and even monetize your content.


How to be Successful

An important aspect of being successful as a content creator is staying up to date with the latest industry news. You should also be researching your industries audience and how to network your content most effectively. You need to have good time management skills. This one is overlooked! Running a business has many facets but for your content to be efficient, you have to create it on a regular basis. Remember its value and make time. Social media platforms help to make this easier by providing built-in schedulers and planners that enable you to upload content and set a future date and time for it to be released. Using your development process and strategy, you can create an entire campaign or a week’s worth of content at a time, schedule it to be released throughout the week and get back to other aspects of your business!
